HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR


Well, it is December 31st and that means that tonight we all get to yell Happy New Year! Are you ready? 10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1...HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Like I ever need a reason to drink champagne? Random Wednesday? Sure, that works for me. I'm kidding...sort of. 

And then there are the New Years resolutions to make. What are mine? What are they every year, diet and working out. I'm bad about both.  How about you? What are yours? 

I'm really looking forward to 2015. Its going to be a great year. To start it out, I have a book releasing at the beginning of January.Its called Wolf's Return and it is the first book in the Black Hills Wolves series for Decadent Publishing.

Happy New Year...almost

New Year's Eve is one of my favorite holidays (I know, technically New Year's Day is the holiday, but we all celebrate New Year's Eve just as much if not more than New Year's Day). July 4th is actually my absolute favorite, but New Year's Eve is a close second. There's something magical about it. A sense of starting over. The world refreshing. The troubles of yesterday seem farther behind me.

I also love the holiday because we spend it at home. Just a quiet night. We eat pizza (or whatever else sounded easy to make and good to eat), and snuggle on the couch as we wait for the ball to drop. Yep. That'll be me tomorrow night. And I'll be one happy girl. I hope you all are doing whatever it is that makes you happy.

May the new year bring you all good health and fortune. I hope the new year brings you the best of whatever it is you desire!

Merry and Happy end of 2014! Let's go out with a bash!! And Matzoh Ball Soup!

The 29th....of December? Really?!?!
How in the world is it already the end of another year?!? That's crazy!!!
Well to comfort each of us into the coming year I'm going to share another recipe! Great for the holidays and makes lots to be able to share with friends and neighbors!

Without further adieu I give you...Matzoh Ball Soup!
Oh....nope....pause! I make mine hearty with added stuff. Kind of like chicken noodle soup but with matzoh balls instead of the chicken.
And when I first tried this (which was totally on my bucket list - why? No damn idea!! :) ) it was described to me as a bread meatball by one of my best friends. That is very very accurate! Kind of like a dumpling ball for all you southern peeps.

Matzoh Ball Soup.

Here's most of the stuff but I forgot to put the vegetable oil in the picture. Oops!!
 Here's the recipe but WAIT!!! I change this one extensively. The "soup mix" in here tastes a little funky so I use it to cook the matzoh balls half way through and then change to my real soup stock. But the how to make the matzoh balls is correct!
 Here's the egg with the oil.
 Here's the matzoh ball mix added.
 This is what it looks like all mixed up! Now you put it in the fridge to cool and harden just a tad.
 While that's cooling I make 2 different soups. The first one is the mix that comes in the box. Add the mix to water, stir until dissolved and boil. Easy!
 The second one is my soup base that will actually be eaten. I use two huge containers of chicken stock and boil. And open the box of pasta and get it ready.
 Get the matzoh ball mix out of the fridge and make balls out of them. I use the baller because it makes them all uniform and they cook at the same rate. After this I actually roll them in my hand to get them all packed together and then I'll chill them for a few more minutes to get them to hold their shape while cooking. And remember they're going to expand so you don't want the initial balls too big. *snicker*
 When the soup mix stock is boiling put the matzoh balls in. And add the Campanelli pasta in the real stock pot to cook. Set the timer for 10 minutes.
 Turn the matzoh balls every couple minutes so they cook evenly.
 Wow those balls got big!!! And yes the one on the right leans a little to the left. #dontjudge
 When the timer goes off I pull all of the matzoh balls out and put them on a plate. They aren't done cooking yet so don't eat them! I also take too big scoops of noodles out at this point and save them for another dish. You can just cook half a box but I like leftovers for other meals! Then I pour half of the soup mix stock in with my stock and add the two big cans of veggies and the chick peas. Heat liquid again.
 Then I add the matzoh balls into the top of the soup stock. They will float but I always still count them. I always seem to have hiders!! Cook for 8 minutes. At the end of 8 minutes you want to pull them out again. I don't leave them in the liquid. They'll turn to mush!!!
 Add the desired # of balls *doublesnicker* to each bowl and pour soup over top. Add pepper to taste if desired!
 ENJOY!!!! It's a wonderful meal that soothes the soul and hungry bellies. Hope you enjoy the recipe!!!

She shouldn’t have taken the shot.

So hard she’d left the weekend kickoff party—although, to be honest, she’d wanted to leave since the pumping music and the grinding bodies and the strobing lights were starting to make her eyelid twitch. As down-home country as the bedrooms were at this ranch-slash-resort, they sure knew how to throw a bacchanal at night.
It was pleasanter out here behind the house, staring up at the stars and enjoying the kiss of a soft breeze. There were no sounds but the rustle of the leaves in the trees, the crickets and the occasional croak of a frog.
Her head hardly spun at all.
She leaned back and closed her eyes and imagined how amazing it would feel to be twenty-one again and interested in those kinds of men. To rub against a hard chest and feel his thickly muscled arms hold her close.
But none of those boys had ignited a flicker of interest in her. They’d all been rubbed smooth. Although several of them, and one in particular, had made it clear he wanted to dance for her.
It was a damn shame.
It would have been fun.
What kind of man would she want, if she wanted a man? Tall, for sure. Broad. Hard. Rough. Maybe a little wicked twinkle in his eye.
A door slammed to her right and her eyes flew open. She blinked as a man strode toward her through the shadows. Her heart lurched and the breath caught in her throat. Yes, her heart whispered. Yes. That was the kind of man she wanted.
He was big, and broad and roped with muscle. His stride was sure, determined and powerful. He wore boots that kicked up dust with every step, and chaps and even a Stetson. He had high cheekbones and a well-formed brow. His square chin was spattered with a dark shadow. His shirt was buttoned.
He looked like a real cowboy.
He looked like a man.
This guy could dance for her. No problem. She’d love to have him rub himself all over her—
His steps stalled as he caught sight of her.
“Well, hey there, cowboy,” she purred. It was probably the tequila purring, but he didn’t seem to care. He peered into the shadows.
She did him the favor of moving into the light. She liked that his nostrils flared and his throat worked. He touched the brim of his hat. “Ma’am.”
Ooh. Ma’am.
Sexy. This stripper knew how to play a role.
“You’re late,” she said.
He blinked. “Late?”
“The party’s already started.” She sidled up to him—again, the tequila; normally she would never sidle up to anybody—and put her hand on his chest. The muscles rippled in response and something inside her rippled as well. It was probably her womb. Crying out for a visitor.
It had been a while, after all.
She leaned closer, against him, and it was good. She nestled her nose in his beautiful neck and took a whiff. And daham, he smelled sinful. Wicked. Alluring.
“What is that fragrance?” she asked. She needed to know. Wanted to bathe in it.
He chuckled; the sound rumbled through her. “Soap.”
“Mmm. Yummy.” She scudded her palm over his chest, his thick arms and down to his trim waist. He held steady as she explored, staring at her through insanely thick lashes. It should be illegal for a man to have lashes like that. His features were locked and hard. A muscle ticked in his cheek. “You’re hard,” she murmured. Oh, God, he was.

Something cracked inside her. It was probably the remainder of her pickled restraint. He was the hottest man she’d ever seen, much less touched. His heat soaked into her and melted her, liquefied her.
She couldn’t stop her roving exploration and wouldn’t have anyway. Her hand drifted lower. His body tightened, his breath hitched as she reached his belt. And then she found him.
Her knees locked. Her pulse rocketed through her veins. Because Jesus God, he wasn’t just hard, he was rock hard.
“Nice.” A whisper, all she could manage. She gave him a little pump.
He hissed in a breath and said through his teeth, “Yeah. Nice.” His hand came to her waist. He stroked her bare skin beneath the hem of her tee. His calluses scraped her sanity.

“Right.”

“Not at all.”

Wade took the plate from her and brought it to the sink. “I’ll just wash these up for Selma and head to bed.”
Kendra was off the stool and grabbing the sprayer before he could reach it. “No. You made the meal for me. I can clean up. You’ve probably had a long day. When did you get up?”
He shrugged. “Probably around five. I didn’t really pay attention.”
“Exactly. I’ll stay and clean up. Go get a good night’s sleep. You have a lot of ordering to do tomorrow based on your lists.”
His eyes widened. “You really approve of everything?”
She put her other hand on her hip. “Listen. I don’t know anything about horses. All I know is what nudists like based on research. I’ll come up with something for the nude riding, but I need an expert to set up my stables and trails. You’re that expert. I’m not going to get in the way of that.”
He smiled, his eyes almost twinkling in his excitement. “Well then, boss. I definitely need to be doing the dishes for you.”
 He reached for the sprayer and without thinking, she pulled it out and sprayed him.
“Oh my God, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to.” She stared as the shirt conformed to Wade’s body, the contours of his chest coming out in full relief. Turning away from the titillating sight, she grabbed a couple hand towels hanging next to the sink. She just didn’t want him to do the dishes. Now he would think she was the worst boss in the state.
Turning back to help him dry off, she froze. Wade had taken off his shirt, revealing his moist chest and arms. The man’s pectorals were what she called mountain muscles and the wet hair that formed a line straight down the middle of his rippled abdominals disappeared beneath blue jeans being held up by a big-buckled belt. She tried to look at his face but was drawn to his large biceps, which had been hidden by the shirt. She followed those to his shoulders where more muscle explained why he appeared so broad. He was. The man was walking muscle.
“Are those for me?”
His voice snapped her out of her drool-like state, and she looked him in the eye. The man’s lips formed a slow smirk.
“Yes. Here.” She gave him the towels and he pushed one back at her.
“Can you dry my back? That water sprayer is strong.”
“Right, of course.” She was bumbling like an idiot, but what woman wouldn’t be. Damn, the man was built. He made her feel petite despite being taller than average. He had to be well over six feet. Stepping behind him, she was treated to another tantalizing view. As he wiped at his chest and arms, the muscles in his back danced, showing the many layers he had. She hesitated to touch him. He would be warm and so male.
“Isn’t it wet?” He rolled his shoulders. “It feels like it.”
“Yes. Yes, it is.” She forced herself to use the towel against his skin, careful not to let her hand touch him. If it did, she wouldn’t be able to stop. She wiped at the moisture until he was dry, then took a deep breath and stepped around him, tossing the towel on the sink. “I’m sorry. I was just trying to keep you from washing the dishes.”
“No harm. I’ve been wet before.” His smile appeared again, and she had the strongest urge to kiss it.
 Switching her weight to her right hip, she crossed her arms. “Well, I guess now you have to let me do the dishes.” She meant to sound flippant, but didn’t carry it off well.
He held out his towel. “Yup. Definitely got your way…this time.”
She uncrossed her arms to take the towel and crushed it against her chest. “Have a good night.”
He shrugged his large shoulders, causing her insides to tighten. Why did she have to be so susceptible to broad shoulders, and why did he have to have the most muscular ones she’d ever seen?
“It all depends on the bed.” He winked and brushed past her. Their arms touched for a second, his clean male scent, which was stronger now without his shirt, washed over her and almost buckled her knees.
She couldn’t resist and turned to watch him walk away, his back teasing her with its muscle play until the batwing doors swung closed behind him.
 She pulled the damp towel up to her face and inhaled. God, the man smelled good. Damn. Built, well mannered, organized, knowledgeable and with a dark tan above his waist that made her want to crawl down his pants to see how far it went.

 She groaned. Tan to the waist meant he was outside without a shirt more often than not. “Hell.” She was definitely screwed…or rather wanted to be. Could she ask Dale for another replacement stable manager?

Merry Christmas from the Decadent Divas and Cinnamon Apple Chex Mix!!

Merry Christmas to each and everyone one of you from all of the Decadent Divas!!! I decided to share a recipe with you for the holidays. Cause it's easy to make and super yummo!!
Here are all of the ingredients!!

And the recipe! I also add a cup or so of macadamia nuts and I use a whole 4.5oz package of dried apples.
 I lay the dried apples out on a cutting board to dry out a bit more. Makes it easier to chop them up.
 Put all of the chex and nuts in a large microwave safe bowl. Yogurts can me measures out but they are held out until the very end.
 Here is all of the butter, cinnamon, brown sugar in a small microwave safe bowl. Nuke for 1 min. Stir. Nuke another minute. It will be bowling. Stir again.
 While this is in the microwave chop up your apples. I cut away all skin left on and the crunchy centers that every package seems to get a few of.
 Drizzle heated sugar mixture over cereal and nut mix in batches to coat evenly.
 Nuke for 3 minutes, stirring at the end of each minute, then add your apples. Microwave 2 more minutes, stopping at each minute to stir. This will really even out the coating.
 Spread on to waxed paper and allow to cool. I come back every few minutes and move it around so the snack doesn't dry all together.
 After 5-10 minutes add your yogurt covered raisins, put back in your bowl, mix it up and ENJOY!!!
 This is my "I MADE CHEX MIX" smile!! I was rather pleased with the batch and it got one more thing off my holiday to-do list so I can just enjoy the time with friends and family!!

A Gift of Oranges


In Her Very Major Christmas, the Joslin family's neighbor, the Squire, brings oranges to the ladies as a gift. They're excited to receive these treatsand in fact, the ladies believe that the citrus fruit might indicate some romantic interest on the part of their botanically-inclined gentleman friend.

But which lady has caught his interest? Rosalind, now living with her relatives by marriage because she had nowhere else to go after her reckless husband died, believes the Squire is holding a torch for the beautiful but faded Aunt Clementine. However, it will take some effort to get crotchety old Sir Silas to agree!

Why would the Squire give a gift of oranges? Well, they're out of season, of course in the bleak midwinter, exotic tropical fruits were rare. The Squire is something of a botanical enthusiast, so he's built an orangery.

An orangery is a building especially designed for the cultivation of oranges, lemons and other exotic tropical plants. Introduced in the 17th century, orangeries became very popular in the 1800s. An orangery has south-facing glass windows to capture the maximum sunlight and a thick northern wall to protect against wind and cold. In the wintertime, straw could be used for insulation.

In London, an orangery or greenhouse might be so elegantly appointed like Queen Anne's beautiful orangery in Kensington Palace, which today is a lovely restaurant that it could be used for fashionable entertaining away from the Court.

However, by the Regency era, many fashionable residences had orangeries or greenhouses. Orangeries were generally built with large, tall windows facing south to take advantage of the maximum possible light. The north facing walls would be built without windows in a very heavy solid brick, or occasionally with much smaller windows to be able to keep the rooms warm. Straw was the main material used for insulation. Some of the buildings could be intended as symbols of prestige, while others, like the Squire's more modest structure, were places to store tender plants like orange and lemon trees in tubs so that they would survive the harsh winter weather.

Rosalind's main interest in the oranges is what she can make with them! Oranges were made into marmelades, the rinds were candied and used in fruit cakes and Christmas pudding, and the juice used in orange shrub, orgeat (a sweet syrup flavored with orange and almond) and mulled wines.

It was a devilish way to be welcomed into the family.
The dark-haired woman had crept into the library, taken one look at him then screamed and fainted dead away. Hed lunged toward her, hoping to catch her before she crumpled to the floor. He didnt quite reach her in time.
Women had screamed at the sight of his scarred face before but usually not until theyd gotten a better look at him. Guiltily aware that her unconscious condition was his fault, he gathered her up into his arms, meaning to place her on the sofa at the far end of the room. If he moved fast enough he could put her down before his marked visage caused her to faint again. She was a soft, sturdy little thing with a pale face and dark hair that spilled over his arm.
He only had time to carry her halfway to the sofa before he heard a furious pounding of feet on the floorboards outside the library. The door to the library burst open. Through the door came an elderly lady, followed by an old man with a pair of dueling pistols, one in each hand.
Unhand that female! Get back, you fiend! the old man shouted, waving the pistols.
Burdened by the woman in his arms, the major froze as one of the weapons dipped dangerously in his direction.
The gun went off with a roar.
A pistol ball whistled past his head and lodged in the wall near the window. The lady shrieked.
The old man looked astonished, turning the pistol around so he could squint down the smoking barrel. By Jove, I didn't even touch the blasted trigger.
